Shire Controls Ltd has been a trusted UK manufacturer of Medical Gas Alarm systems since 1980. With over four decades of experience, we specialise in the design and manufacture of high-reliability alarm solutions that form a critical part of hospital Medical Gas Pipeline Systems (MGPS).

Our Medical Gas Alarms continuously monitor local gas pipeline pressures (Area Alarms) and gas source plant and manifold status (Plant Alarms) across entire healthcare sites, helping ensure the safe, uninterrupted delivery of medical gases where patient care depends on it.

Reliability and availability are at the core of everything we do. Shire Controls has built a strong reputation for robust, dependable products, backed by responsive, customer-focused support and fast response times throughout the product lifecycle.

In 1990, we expanded our portfolio to include Anaesthetic Gas Scavenging Systems (AGSS) in both Simplex and Duplex configurations. These systems apply the same proven design principles, delivering dependable performance while remaining easy to service and support over long operational lifetimes.

Our products are designed with long-term serviceability in mind. New generations of Medical Gas Alarms and AGSS are fully compatible with existing installations, allowing current-issue components, including control PCBs, to be used in older systems. This approach enables customers to upgrade, expand, or adapt their systems as operational requirements, logistics, and budgets allow—without unnecessary system replacement.

All Shire Controls medical devices are UKCA and CE approved, and designed to operate in full compliance with HTM 02-01. In addition, our alarm systems utilise volt-free, fail-safe interfaces, allowing them to be readily adapted for non-medical and industrial applications where reliable monitoring and alarm indication are required.
